Men’s Reproductive Health Initiative
This program was born out of research conducted by Dr. Mary Nelums and Dr. Olga Osby in collaboration with the University of California at San Franciso on the reproductive health of Black women in Mississippi. This new program Initiative on Male Reproductive Health acknowledges that reproductive health has focused on women and ignored the health disparities in communities of men around their reproductive health. This formative qualitative study focused on Black men’s attitudes and experiences toward sexual and reproductive health and healthcare, with an emphasis on contraception and abortion. Reproductive health for men includes planned parenting, risk of STDs and HIV, and prostate cancer. This initiate has a video with a spoken word presentation that speaks to Black men about addressing their reproductive health, a soon to be published article, videos and upcoming workshops and presentations on male health – all with the goal of preventing health crisis and preventable deaths. Check this space often for updates, new information, new videos and upcoming programs.

Nature Based Trauma Informed Care
Nature Based Trauma Informed Care is rooted in the belief that one can employ the natural world around us to promote healing and reduce stress. Studies have shown that time spent outdoors can have a positive impact on one’s physical and mental health. It has been proven to be an inexpensive but effective means of reducing stress and tension, boost mood, improve cognitive and mental functioning and encourages more physical activities that can have significant health benefits. Clean Slate Behavioral Health Solutions offers articles, podcasts and workshops on how individuals, groups and social services can begin to incorporate Nature Based Trauma Informed Care into daily health practices as well as into agency policy and practices.

The Blueprint: Navigating post-Project 2025
Now that the Trump Administration and the 119th Congress has passed the budget reconciliation law known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), there are anticipated challenges for low-income individuals, families and communities regarding healthcare, education, food security, housing assistance, and taxes. Leading up to its passage, how this bill would change social welfare policy was hotly debated and created a good deal of anxiety about what will happen for specific populations and the loss of benefits and services that were once thought to be secure safety nets. Many or most of those social safety nets, over the next couple of years, will be reduced or phased out. Clean Slate Behavioral Health Solutions is offering this space to help social workers, social service providers and the community identify ways to be better educated on the changes and offer ideas and suggestions that families, communities and agencies can use to meet the challenges ahead and address the potential loss of benefits, services, and programs. Our motto: Don’t panic, plan. This CSBHS program initiative is intended to help do just that.
